OO: You having ties to both, the hip hop and hardcore scenes, as well as many other genres as well as other forms of media; you have been able to see the evolution of the genres joining forces. Can you talk a little bit about what you have seen and what you think for the future?
DB: I’ve definitely seen what we’re looking at/listening to come to be what it is today. First of all the web is an artist’s dream come true. When I first got into thinking about doing my own music, this was a dream that probably all of us had as artists and finally manifested. As far as “scenes” go, I like to think I realized a while back that people are people and we are constantly changing. In the 90’s there were times when I’d go to a hardcore show and after walk a few blocks to an open mic. <-Hip-hop. After I got a few drinks in me it was off to the rave spot till 7 or 8am. I think the Internet was kinda designed with this in mind plus the peep shows and the biggest mall in the world open 24/7. The only scene we really belong to is the consumer’s scene. As far as Hardcore & Rap, I’m not a fan. There are only a handful of records that I can say I would listen to. The future is brite.
OO: What projects are you currently involved with?
DB: I have a long list of people that have Hip-hop tracks of mine that are in the works. As far as my own, I have 2 full electro break records & a Hip-hop album that I will put out in the next year or so. I’m also working on an EP with my boy Jaysaun (Special Teams) right now called “Boston Yankees”. Real dope boom-Bap ill lyrics going at people’s heads type shit. Expect to hear/see something in the summer.
OO: What would be your ‘Dream Project’ or have you already been able to do your ‘Dream Project’?
DB: My dream project is to create a sound that would take away all the pain and suffering in our world.
OO: What is your signature ‘thing’ that sets you apart from the other artists out there today?
DB: If I were to say I have something special about myself would just be my ego talking. I do my thing. Other people do to. I am Damian Burnz, the one and only.
OO: Describe the writing and recording process you go through.
DB: The writing process: It always has been different for me. I don’t have any special rituals that I go through. <- that I’m aware of anyway. Sometimes I can bust out beats all day for weeks even months. Other times I won’t touch a drum machine for weeks.
OO: What is the one thing you wanted as a kid and never got that you would still fork out some dough to get?
