Early Maiden has a real vitality. They were such a lively band on those first couple of records. Paul could sing pretty damned well for this kind of thing. He fires out lyrics with a sneer and yet has an impressive voice all his own. Steve ‘Arris was recruiting only the Killers that East London’s metal scene had to offer as he dreamed his Infinite Dreams. Clive Burr could play with a real swing on that huge metal band drum kit, kind of similar to Bill Ward or Peter Criss’ input in their respective bands in the way that he contributed to the architecture of Maiden’s sound.

Of course after those first two albums the sound of the band would change forever with the arrival of a new front man, the Prodigal Son himself Bruce Bruce. With their new singer a Revelation they took a big leap in theatrics…
